It was founded by the Corsican Rossi family and was acquired by Nouvelles Frontieres, a French tour operator, in 1990 and the name was changed to "Corsair". The association was founded on March 10th, 1982 with the purpose of  purchasing, maintaining and operating historical aircrafts. The DDA counts roughly 4000 members of which 340 are active in various disciplines.
